The Universe has many groups of stars.

Each group of stars is called a galaxy.

There are trillions of galaxies.

(Thousand thousands make a million.)

(Thousand millions make a billion.)

(Thousand billions make a trillion.)

Each galaxy has trillions of stars.

Our galaxy is one of those.

This galaxy has a name.

It is called the Milky Way.

(Aakaash Ganga)

Scientists say, the Milky Way is in the shape of a biscuit that is bulged at the center and thin at the edges.

The Milky Way too has trillions of stars.

One of those stars is the Sun.

The Sun is the only star we see during the day.

We see all the stars only at night.

The Sun is not alone.

He has a family.

The Sun's family is made up of the planets that go round Him.

This family has a name.

It is called the Solar System.

Right now, there are eight planets in the Solar System.

Planets are not stars.

Stars have light of their own.

They are called sef-luminous.

They are called self-luminous.

Planets have no light of their own.

They are not self-luminous.

The first planet of the Solar System is called Mercury.

Of the eight planets, Mercury is the smallest.

The path in which a planet moves around the Sun is called 'orbit'.

Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun.

Wednesday is named after Mercury.

In Roman mythology, Mercury is the god of trade.

The second planet of the Solar System is called Venus.

Of the eight planets, Venus is the hottest.

Friday is named after Venus.

Venus is so hot because it has a lot of carbon dioxide on it.

(Carbon dioxide traps heat.)

In the Roman mythology, Venus is the god of beauty.

Now, the third planet of the Solar System is where we are.

The earth is a very special planet.

It is the only place in the entire universe which has life.

From the outer space, the earth looks blue.

The earth is called the Blue Planet.

None of the days is named after the earth.

In Roman mythology, they call our planet 'Terra'.

Terra means Mother Earth.

The fourth planet of the Solar System is Mars.

In Roman mythology, Mars is the god of war.

Mars is called the Red Planet.

We can sometimes see Mars in the sky with our naked eye.

Tuesday is named after Mars.

In future, humans may have a chance to live on Mars.

An American businessman Elon Musk and his company SpaceX are working on plans for human colonies on Mars.
