I am Ramakrishna at Kakinada, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India. What are my coordinates? I am on 17th latitude in the northern hemisphere (17oN) and 82nd longitude in the eastern hemisphere (82oE). My coordinates are (17oN, 82oE). You are Harshitha at New Jersey. What are your coordinates? You are on 40th latitude in the northern hemisphere (40oN) and 74th longitude in the western hemisphere(74oW). Your coordinates are (40oN, 74oW) From the coordinates, what can we say about the difference in the weather at your place and my place? You are on 40th latitude and I am on 17th latitude. I am closer to the equator and you are away from the equator. So we can say your place will be colder than my place. From the coordinates, what can we say about the time difference between us? There are 156 (82+74) longitudes between us. And for each longitude, there comes a time difference of 4 minutes. For 156 longitudes, the time difference would be 156*4 = 624 minutes, which is equal to 10 ...

An Elegy On The Death Of A Mad Dog by Oliver Goldsmith Good people all, of every sort, Give ear unto my song; And if you find it wondrous short, It cannot hold you long. In Islington there was a man Of whom the world might say, That still a godly race he ran— Whene'er he went to pray. A kind and gentle heart he had, To comfort friends and foes; The naked every day he clad— When he put on his clothes. And in that town a dog was found, As many dogs there be, Both mongrel, puppy, whelp, and hound, And curs of low degree. This dog and man at first were friends; But when a pique began, The dog, to gain some private ends, Went mad, and bit the man. Around from all the neighbouring streets The wond'ring neighbours ran, And swore the dog had lost its wits To bite so good a man. The wound it seemed both sore and sad To every Christian eye; And while they swore the dog was mad, They swore the man would die. But soon a wonder came to light That showed the rogues they lied,— The man recov...

Latitudes and longitudes are lines on the earth. They are imaginary lines. Latitudes are horizontal. Longitudes are vertical. Latitudes are named N or S. N latitudes are above the equator. S latitudes are below the equator. Longitudes are named E or W. E longitudes are to the right of the prime meridian. W longitudes are to the left of the prime meridian. Latitudes are 181. Longitudes are 361. You are on 74 W and I am on 82 E. The equator is a circle. All latitudes are circles. Longitudes are semi-circles. They start from the NP and extend up to the SP. Your latitude determines the climate in your place and your longitude determines the time in your place.

Now, let's imagine vertical lines on the earth. We'll imagine 180 such lines in the eastern hemisphere and another 180 in the western hemisphere. We called the horizontal lines latitudes. Now, these vertical lines are going to be called longitudes. How many longitudes have we imagined? 180 + 180 + prime meridian, total 361 Each longitude sees the sunrise at a different point of time. Between two longitudes the time difference is 4 minutes. I am on 82nd longitude in the eastern hemisphere. You are on 74th longitude in the western hemisphere. How many longitudes are there between us? 82+74 = 156 For 156 longitudes, the time difference between us will be 156*4 = 624 minutes. That is about 10 and a half hours.

We can imagine horizontal lines across the earth. These lines are called latitudes. We first imagine a line at the center. It is called the equator. It is numbered 0. From this equator, up to the North Pole, it is the Northern Hemisphere. In this, we imagine 90 parts or 90 lines. The one between 23rd and 24th lines is called the Tropic of Cancer. The one between 66th and 67th lines is called the Arctic Circle. The 90th line in the Northern Hemisphere is called the North Pole. In the same way, we imagine 90 lines in the Southern Hemisphere too. The one between 23rd and 24th (in the SH) is called the Tropic of Capricorn. The one between 66th and 67th (in the SH) is called the Antarctic Circle. The 90th line in the Southern Hemisphere is called the South Pole. Names of important latitudes: 90 N: North Pole 66.5 N: Arctic Circle 23.5 N: Tropic of Cancer 0: Equator 23.5 S: Tropic of Capricorn 66.5 S: Antarctic Circle 90 S: South Pole Total number of latitudes: 90 in the NH, 90 in the SH, eq...

From Me to Everyone:  06:28 AM 01. On 21 March, the duration of the day is exactly equal to the duration of the night. 02. On 21 June, the day is longest (for us in the northern hemisphere), and the night is shortest. 03. Again on 21 September, the durations of day and night are exactly equal. 04. On 22 December, for us, the night is longest night and the day is shortest. 05. From December to June, north pole receives sunlight continuously and the south pole receives no light at all. 06. From June to December, south pole has day and north pole has night.

The equator does not pass through North America. The equator passes through the upper part of South America. The equator does not pass through Europe. The equator passes almost through the center of Africa. Practically we can say the equator is not passing through Asia except for a few islands. The equator does not pass through Australia. On the earth, two parts are water and one part is land. Most of the land is in the northern hemisphere. The southern hemisphere is mostly ocean. Practically, the western hemisphere has only the Americas. The first quadrant has Africa, Europe, Asia. The second quadrant has North America. The third quadrant has South America. Australia and some Africa are in the fourth quadrant. Most land is in the first quadrant.

From Me to Everyone:  06:31 AM 01. We can also imagine a vertical line in the center of the earth. 02. It is called the Prime Meridian. 03. The part of the earth to the right of the Prime Meridian is called the Eastern Hemisphere. 04. The part of the earth to the left of the Prime Meridian is called the Western Hemisphere. 05. Americas are in the Western Hemisphere. 06. The meeting point of the equator and the prime meridian is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.

From Me to Everyone:  06:20 AM 01. The earth is round. 02. We can make a model of the earth. 03. The model may be round or flat. 04. When a model of the earth, it is called globe. 04. When a model of the earth is round, it is called globe. 05. When a model of the earth is flat, it is called a map. 06. The earth is a magnet. 07. It has two ends where magnetic power is strong. 08. These two ends are called poles. 09. So you have a top end which is called the north pole. 10. And a bottom end which is called the south pole 11. Around the arctic (north pole), there are some people living, they are called eskimos. 12. They build ice houses which are called igloos. 13. Life is very difficult at the poles because it's too cold. 14. So you won't find many people or plants or animals in the polar regions. 15. The line across the center of the earth is called the equator. 16. The poles are the coldest parts of the earth and the equator is the hottest part of the earth. 17. Countries which...
